Diyar Al Muharraq, one of the largest real estate developers in the Kingdom of Bahrain, committed its support as a platinum sponsor for the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit 2021, which was held under the Patronage of H.E. Eng. Essam Bin Abdulla Khalaf Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning for two consecutive days on the 10th and 11th of October 2021 at the Gulf Hotel’s Gulf Conventions Center, in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the Summit, Diyar Al Muharraq emerged as the winner of the Smart City Solution Award as part of the Bahrain Smart Cities awards line up, a testament to the pioneering projects, initiatives, and smart and sustainable solutions implemented at Diyar Al Muharraq. The award was given in light of Diyar’s milestone achievements on a sustainability front, especially in the wake of COVID-19.
Diyar has successfully maintained an excellent level of service provided to existing tenants and new customers, demonstrating its commitment to implementing the requisite COVID-19 social distancing requirements and precautionary measures throughout the ongoing pandemic, launching innovative services in the likes of the Diyar virtual property adviser, wherein customers were able to meet virtually with the Sales representatives and experience 3D virtual journeys of show villas, as well as submit requests online via the virtual Technical Interface Office (TIO).
Moreover, Diyar Al Muharraq has maintained its commitment to contributing to the support of the National economy. The City has been developed and constructed according to the highest standard, providing various services and amenities that are easily accessible to the residents of Diyar Al Muharraq, which include mosques, parks, retail outlets, health centers, commercial complexes, private and public schools and universities, including the launch of the first dedicated track for cyclists, extending 16 km, alongside an adjacent jogging track.
Achieving several milestones firsts on a sustainability front, Diyar emerged as the first in the Kingdom of Bahrain to implement the usage of LED streetlights, starting with the areas of Al Bareh and Al Qamra, which was then implemented across the whole development. Multiple solar trees have been installed across the development to power its irrigation system controls resulting in an environmentally friendly solution to the power requirement.
The summit also featured an exhibition for participants to showcase the latest smart city solutions and systems, providing an opportunity for attendees to learn about the latest global technology in Construction, Fintech, Waste Management, Green Buildings and Sustainable Energy. Diyar Al Muharraq showcased its latest projects and developments at its booth, whose design reflected Diyar’s environmentally-friendly ethos and commitment to green living.
During the official opening ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Diyar Al Muharraq, Eng. Ahmed Alammadi, delivered a keynote speech discussing the Company’s vision and the sustainability tools that have been deployed at Diyar’s masterplan to achieve the highest sustainability standards, touching upon key measures implemented.
Speaking on the sidelines of the summit, Eng. Ahmed Alammadi, stated, “Our sponsorship of this prominent summit is aligned to Diyar Al Muharraq’s vision and commitment to supporting the progress of social, economic and environmental sustainability on a local level, contributing to the Kingdom’s plans to achieve key sustainability goals as mapped out in the 2030 National Economic Vision. Bahrain Smart Cities Summit is the only forum of its kind in the Kingdom dedicated to discussing smart and sustainable solutions for cities of today and the future. Organized by Smart way Consulting, with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a knowledge partner, represented by United Nations (UN) Bahrain under the UN Habitat for a Better Urban Future initiative, several key government and private entities also emerged as strategic partners and sponsors of the Summit.
